I really like your work and would like to use it for my college magazine. Naturally, i'll credit you fully. if possible could you email me a high resolution, its for print after all. And could you include your full name as well, i couldn't find it in your blog page. Cheers
Thanks and I can do that...I will send you an uncompressed jpeg, and the name is Ken Meyer Jr. (you can check my site at www.kenmeyerjr in the bio section/interview sections if you want any anecdotes and such).
I like the fun you had with the republicans: Huckabee looks like a dog: huge eyes, mouth agape. Guliani has that whole gums/upper lip thing going on. Very funny.
Stunningly good likeness. I'm way impressed.
A question on your technique, if I may...
I see tiny parts of the flag are a fully saturated red... What kind of a wash did you cover it with to get it to a more subdued red (and to push all of the candidates back further in the background)? Is it a diluted grey with turp and linseed oil or something?
I haven't painted since college and seeing the wonderful qualities of your brushwork and color is making me want to go gesso some canvas.
Thanks for the comments! As for the technique, for this one I used a technique invented as used by the illustrator C.F. Payne (google him, he is great). It's a multimedia technique and that haze you mention was indeed another layer to push back the other candidates more. If you want, I can tell you in more detail.
This was done a few months ago, implying that all politicians are controlled by someone else...but, at that time, I didn't really know that much about Obama (who I will probably end up voting for)...and if he is elected, I guess we will see who is in control!
